YMCA STEM Camp in Meriden, CT
Our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Camps at the Meriden YMCA’s Mountain Mist Day Camp are designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love for hands-on learning in campers who have completed grades 3 through 8. Guided by experienced educators and the Director of STEM Academy, these specialty STEM camps offer a variety of immersive experiences—from exploring environmental science and engineering challenges to building robots, coding with Ozobots, launching rockets, and conducting chemistry experiments—all set within a supportive, team-oriented environment that encourages problem-solving and collaboration.

The Meriden YMCA Mountain Mist Day Camp is excited to offer our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Camps! STEM Camps are open to campers who have completed grades 3 through 8 as of the school year ending in June. STEM Camps will be under the direction of Christopher Stone, Director of STEM Academy.
STEAM Explorations Camp
Does your child like to explore science, solve problems and use technology? If so, then STEAM Explorations Camp is the perfect place for your child! Join us for an engaging session of exploring many different STEM Challenges through hands-on investigations. Topics will include, but are not limited to, K'NEX and Lego Building, Coding with Ozobots and Engineering Challenges.
- Session 1: June 15 - June 26, 2026 (there is camp on June 19)

Environmental Explorers Camp
Explore the perfect blend of environmental science and STEAM! Campers will investigate weather patterns, design rainwater collection systems, build simple sensors to measure outdoor conditions, and study how technology can help protect the environment. Hands-on activities include creating windmills, experimenting with solar circuits, and engineering devices that support sustainability. Each camper will keep a STEAM field journal to document experiments and discoveries. Become a Mountain Mist STEAM Explorer while learning how science and innovation shape our world!

Chemistry 101
Calling all Junior Chemists! Participants who join will experience how different substances react with one another. Some experiments may include: making different foods like ice cream; high flying reactions like film canister rockets; or colorful creations like slime and lava lamps.

Rocketry and Flight 101
Do you have a knack for learning about the ins and out of the science of rockets and flying? If yes, then come on out to this camp. In this camp we will explore the mechanics behind rockets, the science behind flying them and an experience with drone flying. Experiments will include creating four different rockets and activities on how to increase the functionality. Try this camp and you’ll have a blast!

Robotics Revolution: Create & Code
Dive into the exciting world of robotics at our Robotics Revolution camp! This hands-on program is perfect for aspiring engineers and coders, combining LEGO Robotics, Ozobots, online coding, and game design into a fun and engaging experience. Join us for two weeks of innovation, collaboration, and exploration. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, our expert instructors will guide you through each exciting project.

STEAM For All
Each camp session, campers will have at least one 45 minute rotation through our STEAM program. Through hands-on investigations campers will experience a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) concepts. Campers can expect to create take home projects, launch a rocket, and nature hiking our beautiful Mountain Mist campus. Campers will develop observation, communication and collaboration skills.
