What are the camp hours?
- Regular Camp Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Early Bird Before Care: 6:45 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
- Night Owls After Care: 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

What is a typical camp day schedule?
- 6:30 AM - 8:45 AM Before Camp Care
- 8:45 AM - 9:15 AM Arrive at Camp - Parent/Bus Drop-Off - Campers are dropped off at camp are are led to their appropriate group. Attendance is taken.
- 9:20 AM Polly’s Place - Camp welcome and song, morning announcements, birthday shoutout
- 9:30 AM Activity Period #1
- 10:10 AM Activity Period #2
- 10:50 AM Activity Period #3
- 11:30 AM Activity Period #4 and Lunch Begins
- 12:10 PM Activity Period #5 and Lunch
- 1:00 PM - 1:30 PM L.O.G.S (Lots Of Great Stuff by counselors ) at Polly’s Place - The entire camp gets together for an assembly loaded with songs and skits relating to the session.
- 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM Afternoon Camp Activity
- 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM Dismissal
- 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM After Camp Care
What are the lunch options?
- Please note any food allergies in your Camp Doc.
- Campers will be offered a free grab and go breakfast snack and lunch.
- If your camper prefers to bring lunch they can bring a peanut and tree nut free cold lunch.
- Pack the lunch with an ice pack as it will stay in their backpack until lunch time. We do not refrigerate or heat lunches.
- The lunch menu is similar to the school meal menu.

What should campers bring to camp?
- Bring a backpack. All items should be marked with the camper’s name.
- If you do not want the lunch that is provided bring a cold peanut free lunch. Campers should bring a lunch with ice packs that can stay in the backpack. No refrigeration will be provided.
- A water bottle. There will be ample time for water breaks and a water fountain to refill when necessary.
- Sunscreen. (no spray).
- Bathing suit and towel with your camper's name on it.
What should campers wear to camp?
- Campers should wear comfortable clothes for indoor and outdoor play.
- Wear sneakers.
What do campers need to leave to leave at home?
- Electronics, cell phone, toys, jewelry, money, anything of value.
- Any camper who brings weapons to camp will be suspended immediately.
- Mountain Mist is a drug, alcohol, and smoke free program. Any camper found with tobacco, drugs or alcohol will be immediately suspended from camp.
What happens on rainy days?
- At Camp Mountain Mist Day Camp we call rain liquid sunshine! We do have camp on rainy days and utilize our indoor spaces when needed. When possible when the rain stops we will move camp outdoors.
- We will closely monitor the weather forecasts daily and announce any cancellation in advance.
- We will utilize all indoor space in sudden or threatening weather.
- If severe weather required us to close camp early (like when schools get closed early for a similar situation) we would call parents and guardians to pick up their camper.
- Rainy days are not prorated or refunded.
Is there a camp nurse on staff?
We have a Registered Nurse onsite during the day camp season.
If your child needs to take medication at camp and/or has a care plan, they must be dropped off by an adult to the camp nurse the Saturday before the camp session starts. They may not be dropped off the day camp starts.
Bring them to the nurse at the Meriden YMCA at 110 West Main Street from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on one of these dates: June 13, June 27, July 11, July 25, August 8, 2026.
Bring the following:
- Medication in a pharmacy labeled bottle
- MD signed form that is for the whole camp session or longer
- Signed care plan by parents
Please note: All medication must be picked up by parent/adult by the last day of your child's camp session. Any medication not picked up by the end of camp will be disposed of per regulations.
My child can only attend one week of a two week session. Can I sign up for just one week?

Can we request that our camper be with a friend in the same group?
Yes, however they must be in the same unit/grade. We will do our best to accommodate your request.
