March 16 Coronavirus Update - Temporary Closure

March 16, 2020 Coronavirus Update - Temporary Closure

Dear Y Community:

First, we want to thank you for your support of the Y and our mission. This is an unprecedented time and we all need to work together to get through this.

Governor Lamont has ordered all gyms to close March 16th at 8:00 PM.

Following this mandate, our Meriden YMCA branch at 110 West Main Street, New Britain YMCA at 50 High Street, and CrossFit Meriden at 74 Cambridge Street are closing until Governor Lamont notifies us that we are permitted to reopen. Our Hart House Residence at the New Britain YMCA will remain open.

While we are closed you can continue your wellness journey at home. Y360 virtual workouts are available. Click this link to learn more: At home wellness workouts.

We will post workouts on our web sites at meridenymca.org and nbbymca.org for our members so you can work out at home.

CrossFit coaches will post workouts for our CrossFit members on our CrossFit Meriden member page. Programs are postponed. We will make them up if possible when we reopen.

Due to this unprecedented situation and CDC, federal, state and local guidelines, we are also closing our child care centers.

The Meriden YMCA has served our community for 153 years. The decision to close our facilities was made to best ensure the safety of everyone in our community while also complying with the State's directive. We are hopeful that you will be patient during this unprecedented time. Our YMCA has helped keep you healthy and we ask that you please keep your membership active so we can keep our YMCA healthy during these challenges. Your support is more critical than ever as we anticipate a much greater need for financial assistance this year for child care, summer camp and more.

We will communicate any updates as we have them on our web site, and through our email and social media channels. Staff will be available to answer questions by phone at (203) 235-6386 in Meriden, (860) 229-3787 in New Britain, and at (860) 357-2717 in Berlin.

Thank you again for your continued support. We wish you and your loved ones good health.

Sincerely,

John Benigni, CEO, Meriden-New Britain-Berlin YMCA
Steve Markoja, Branch Executive Director, Meriden YMCA
Marci Moskal, Branch Executive Director, New Britain and Berlin YMCAs
