The Meriden–New Britain–Berlin YMCA Announces Promotion of Tony Cortright

The Meriden-New Britain-Berlin YMCA (MNBBY) is pleased to announce the promotion of Anthony “Tony” Cortright to Senior Program Director. Tony has been on the MNBBY team for almost six years, as the Gymnastics Director and Head Coach of the MNBBY Panthers Gymnastics Team. In his new role, Tony will oversee all Sports, Arts, and Education programs while continuing his gymnastics duties.

Tony is from Wallingford Connecticut and graduated from UCONN in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology. While at UCONN he was a Division I springboard diver. After college, Tony worked as a diving coach at CCSU, Marshall University and Tulane University. He has also coached CCSU and Meriden high school divers while working at the Y. His athletic background also includes competing as a level 10 gymnast and a Division II wrestler. In 2024 Tony completed an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Post University while working full-time at the Y.

“I am excited to take on my new role and continue to positively impact lives in the communities we serve. At the Y we not only develop youth to succeed in the programs they participate in, we prepare them for success in life,” said Tony.

“We are excited to promote Tony to this role. He has a passion for serving the Y mission and has demonstrated success by growing our gymnastics program and team. His drive, coaching expertise, and relationship building skills are great assets to our organization,” said Steve Markoja, Chief Operating Officer for the Meriden-New Britain-Berlin YMCA.
