Meriden YMCA Welcomes Justin Ferreira

The Meriden YMCA welcomes Justin Ferreira, our new Sports Director. Justin will be responsible for all Youth Sports Programs and Sports Specialty Camps.

Justin graduated from Maloney High School in 2012 then went on to attend and play volleyball at Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts. He was a volunteer basketball and volleyball coach at Maloney from 2013-2015. In his senior year at Lasell he was the Freshman Boys' Basketball coach at Weston High School in Weston, Mass. Justin graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor's degree in Sport Management with a Minor in Coaching.

Justin was hired by the Charles River YMCA in Needham, Massachusetts as Teen and Assistant Sports Director. He is excited to be back in his hometown and continue teaching sports at the YMCA. “I enjoy working at the YMCA because I enjoy making a difference in the community. I love seeing smiling faces and I love teaching sports to all ages,” said Justin.

When he is not teaching at the Y, Justin enjoys playing numerous sports such as basketball, volleyball, softball, wiffleball and more. He loves all Boston sports teams and Kentucky Basketball.

“We’re excited to welcome Justin back to his hometown. He is a great addition to our team. Justin not only brings his Sports Management degree from Lasell, his YMCA experience with teen and youth sports programs, coaching and teaching skills, and love of sports are also assets that will serve him well as Sports Director. We look forward to him helping us grow our programs,” said Steve Markoja, Branch Director of the Meriden YMCA.
