Meriden-New Britain-Berlin YMCAs Thank Veterans and Military Families

The Meriden-New Britain-Berlin YMCA thanks veterans, active duty military personnel, reservists and their families for their dedication, sacrifice and service.

From November 11th through November 30, 2019 local veterans, active duty military personnel, reservists and their families who are not currently Y members, will have complimentary access to the Meriden and New Britain YMCAs to work out and spend family time together.

The Armed Services YMCA and Department of Defense Military Outreach Initiative offer YMCA memberships to eligible active duty military families and personnel who may not have access to a nearby military facility. Y staff can assist military members with information about how they may qualify for a no cost six-month membership through the Military Outreach Initiative.

For those families of deployed personnel who qualify, you may be eligible for a family membership and opportunity to use our Child Watch babysitting to help with the stress of deployment. For those that don’t qualify for the no cost membership, we offer special rates for military families (active and reserves) and special membership rates for veterans.

About the Y

As the nation’s leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community, we are dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected and secure children, adults, families and communities. Every day our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child and when neighbors come together for the common good. Everything the Y does is in service of making us–as individuals and a community–better. For a better you. For a better community. For a better country. For a better us.

The Meriden YMCA has served the community for 152 years. The New Britain-Berlin YMCA has served our community for 161 years.

In 2016, the Meriden and New Britain-Berlin YMCAs combined into one association to better serve our communities. Members are experiencing the benefits of the merger with additional child care options for working families, improvements to facilities, new group exercise classes, access to 24/7 fitness, more programs for all ages, and expanded STEM offerings to name a few. In addition we are continuing to improve operational efficiencies and maximize our talented team, purchasing power and resources to continue to be responsible stewards of your membership and program dollars, donations and grants. The Meriden-New Britain-Berlin YMCA serves over 11,000 members and employs over 1,000 people.
