Our Meriden-New Britain-Berlin YMCA Gymnasts are having an outstanding season!
Our gymnasts are very busy with competitions right now, having just competed in the Southington YMCA Gymnastics Kristin Warner Invitational February 23-24, 2019 and in the YMCA Northern Leagues Championship, held at the Glastonbury Gymnastics Club on March 3, 2019.
At the Kristin Warner Invitational, the Level 2 girls team took 2nd place, the Level 3 girls team took 9th place and the Level 4 girls team took 3rd place! More girls qualified for the States Competition, as well as National Competition, and many more achieved personal bests, including our Level 2s: Amelia LeSieur – 34.10, Tiffany Tran – 34.55 and Meliah Velez – 36.20. Aaliyah Clark, 8 years old, competed for her first time as a Level 2 and achieved an All Around score of 33.40 – an awesome first score! Linny Edwards competed as a Level 2 for the first time this season and achieved an All Around score of 34.10, an overall personal best for her!
On Sunday, March 3, 2019, at the YMCA Northern League Championships, the MNBB YMCA Girls Gymnastics Team achieved more personal bests, flew high and looked sharp as they flipped and leapt their way to a 2nd Place for the Level 2 girls team and a 3rd Place for the Level 4 girls team!
All of our Level 4 girls scored their personal best All Around scores with Amaya Adkins scoring 35.85AA, Jezebel Perez scoring 33.15AA, Daylianette Sanchez scoring 34.35AA, and Brooklynn Vasquez scoring 33.60AA. The Level 4 girls also placed in the top 3 several times: Amaya Adkins – 1st on Vault, 3rd on Beam, 3rd AA and Jezebel Perez – 1st on Beam, 3rd on Floor for the Senior level 4s; Daylianette Sanchez – 2nd on Bars; Brooklynn Vasquez – 3rd on Vault, 3rd on Beam for the Junior level 4s.
For the Level 2s Ages 5-7: Amelia LeSieur placed 1st on Bars, 2nd on Beam, 3rd on Vault, 3rd on Floor and 2nd All Around; Cecelia Fenwick placed 2nd on Bars and 3rd on Beam. For the Level 2s Age group 8-9: Kaylie Ferrer placed 3rd on Vault and for the Level 2s Age group 11: Tiffany Tran placed 3rd on Vault.
We have many more upcoming that the gymnasts are preparing for, including States, YMCA Regionals Championships (Readfield, Maine), YMCA National Gymnastics Championship (Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin), The Nutmeg State Games, and the State Games of America (Roanoke, VA).
Our Level 3, 4 and 5 gymnasts will be competing at the Emily Fedorko Challenge, held in Darien, CT this upcoming weekend, March 9-10, 2019 and look forward to a fun-filled fliptastic weekend! -Coach Mandy
