After seven weeks of rehearsals, the Berlin Youth Theatre presented its first musical “Willy Wonka Junior” at the McGee Middle School in Berlin on Saturday, June 25.
“I’ve been working with the Meriden Youth Theater for a while, but this is the first performance for Berlin, so it’s very exciting,” said Carolyn Daniels, Arts Academy Director for the Meriden YMCA.
Based on the classic children’s novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl, the production was organized by the Berlin YMCA in conjunction with the Meriden Youth Theatre. The new Berlin program, which services kids from Berlin and Meriden from grades K-8, had participants cast, rehearse, and perform a musical in a few short weeks.
