Since 2001, this innovative Arts Program has provided a unique environment in which students have fun learning foundational skills for drawing, painting and sculpting along with the tools to think and solve problems creatively! The Kidz Artz Program has been always a Green program: we find ways to reuse interesting everyday materials to create wonderful works of art. All children learn how to properly use paint brushes, mix colors and to be responsible for taking care of tools and materials.

Each day begins with a sketch or design of each student’s favorite subject and then they can proceed creating with the painting or sculpture. In this process, students learn patience with forming and developing their ideas. We encourage children to bring a book to read while their projects are drying or they can begin their next layout without taking any down time.

The Kidz Artz Program also includes a free hour of play,one hour swim time, use of the computer center, and time for games in the gym. In addition, we will visit* Friends of the Library Bookstore and Meriden’s Gallery 53 (to view the current art exhibit). * Weather Permitting.

All Children will need to bring:

1. A Smock or old tee shirt (that can get paint on it) for painting time.
2. Students will also need to bring a swimsuit and towel.
3. A Bagged lunch, a beverage and a substantial snack.
