Children are our most valuable resource. Along with the basic needs of food, education and shelter, they also need to be loved, guided and supported in their transition to adulthood. Your Meriden YMCA believes that every child, regardless of his or her families financial situation, deserves the experience of YMCA programs and services. Through your Meriden programs, families have opportunities to connect and grow together. Whether a child spend every day with us or just a few weeks in the summer, your Meriden YMCA is an experience that will stick with them forever.

Safe Places

One of the most crucial roles that Your Meriden YMCA plays is that of a safe place. At the Y, kids can be kids, play is encouraged, and everyone is welcome to take part. Under the guidance of trained staff and volunteers, children find a home away from home at the Y where they can grow in spirit, mind and body. No child is turned away from the Y due to inability to pay.

Our Meriden YMCA's goal is to Enrich, Support and Involve our kids.

The Meriden Y:

• Serves over 300 teens on a weekly bas is;
• Helps over 200 children with homework, provides a healthy snack, and an opportunity to socialize with friends in a safe, nourishing environment in our after school program/child care facilities;
• Provides assistance to over 65% of our families in childcare in an effort to cover program fees; 
• Gives scholarships or subsidized funding to 30% of our campers attending Mountain Mist Day Camp;
• Provides Thanksgiving and Holiday dinners to more than 400 people in Meriden, delivers meals to the homebound and gave Holiday gifts to over 300 children with no place to go;
• Teaches over 250 of our elementary school children how to swim on a yearly basis; and
• Provides youth services to nearly 10,000 children throughout the City of Meriden.
  

While the need is great, you can make a difference. Each dollar contributed to Strong Kids Campaign goes directly to making YMCA programs and membership available to those in need. Please give generously.
