Sports Camp( Discoverers & Explorers)
Program Description: The Mountain Mist sports camp take place during the regularly scheduled camp day. Participants will focus on the skills necessary to excel at their chosen sport. Sports camp will help you improve and put you on the road to becoming a better athlete.
Ages: Grades 3 - 11

Musical Theatre Camp
Program Description: This program offers campers, grades K-9, the opportunity to train and learn the various aspects of musical theater, acting, voice training, staging, direction, and stage presence. During this 2 week program, campers will learn a musical number and perform it during the family night. These campers also experience traditional camp activities.

Ride the Great Outdoors
Program Description:

Are you ready to ride! For the first session of the summer of 2008, we will be biking different parks and areas of Connecticut. The session will start on the Mountain Mist Ropes Course to teach campers communication and teamwork skills. We will then review bicycle safety, maintenance, and courtesy. The remainder of the session will be on the trails leading up to our overnight trip to the Cockaponset State Forest. The session will close with a day trip to Lake Compounce and an end of session overnight at Mountain Mist Day Camp. All participants must provide their own bike and helmet! All equipment will be stored and locked for the night at Mountain Mist. If you are ready for the ride of your life, please contact the Meriden YMCA quickly as spaces are limited

Ain't No Mountain High Enough
Program Description:

Did you know that the Appalachian Trail passes through Connecticut? Have you ever heard of Devil’s Hopyard? How about the Hanging Hills? Session 2 offers campers the chance to experience the beauty of the Connecticut countryside through different hikes throughout the state. The session begins with activities on the Mountain Mist Ropes Course to teach campers communication and teamwork skills. We will then move on to hiking etiquette, and trail maintenance stressing leave it as you found it. The rest of the session will consist of day hikes at various state parks and forests culminating in an overnight trip on the Appalachian Trail in Cornwall. The end of session field trip will be tubing down the Farmington River in New Hartford followed by an overnight at Mountain Mist. If you are ready for adventure in the Connecticut wilderness, please contact the Meriden YMCA quickly as spaces are limited.

The River Wild
Program Description:

I can canoe can you? Session 3 of Adventure Camp offers canoeing at various lakes in the central Connecticut area culminating with a trip down the Connecticut River! The session begins with activities on the Mountain Mist Ropes Course to teach campers communication and teamwork skills. We will then move on to paddle skills, water rescues, and canoe safety. The rest of the session involves day trips to lakes and ponds in the area culminating with an overnight trip down the Connecticut River! The end of the session field trip will be a day at the beach at Hammonassett State Park in Madison with an overnight at Mountain Mist. Canoes, paddles, and PDF’s provided. If you are interested in a wild ride down the river, please contact the Meriden YMCA quickly as spaces are limited!

Dance Camp
Program Description:

Mountain Mist Day Camp is proud to offer a dance program to compliment our Musical Theater Camp. The program will be under the direction of Shiloh Doyle, owner of Rising Stars School of Dance in Holyoke, MA. Campers will rehearse daily and the session will culminate with two recitals. One recital will be before the entire camp and the other will take place off site at a nursing home to compliment the YMCA’s philosophy of building strong communities. 

Campers will have the opportunity to swim daily as well as use of the Ropes Course in the afternoon. There will be mandatory information session prior to the program where Shiloh will inform parents and campers of expectations and what each camper needs to bring on a daily basis.

Campers should bring with them a bagged lunch, bathing suit, towel, sun screen, and water bottle on a daily basis. Notices will be sent home to campers with any necessary changes to the schedule.

Special Needs Camp
Program Description:

Special needs camp ( all ages ) Session 1- 4

This program is designed specifically for children with developmental disabilities. The Special Needs Program will be under the direction of Kristal C. Barnes, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Participants in the program will receive individual attention with a one-on-one aide at all times during the camp day. All of the Special Needs Aides have extensive experience working with children with developmental disabilities and were recruited from similar programs throughout Connecticut. 

Participants will be integrated into camp programming with peers their own age as well as specialty programming for special needs. All special needs campers will have the opportunity to go rock climbing, swimming, nature activities, participate in arts and crafts, archery, sports, hiking, field trips, as well as all camp activities. Campers should bring with them a bagged lunch, bathing suit, towel, sun screen, and water bottle on a daily basis. Interested parties should contact the Meriden YMCA as soon as possible as spaces are limited. In addition to the regular camp paperwork, all campers in the Special Needs Program are required to submit an additional application and interview with the BCBA. The Meriden YMCA and the BCBA reserve the right to accept or reject any participant based on the level of need.
