Babysitting Course

On Friday, June 25, 2010 from 9:00am to 4:00pm the Meriden YMCA will hold an American Red Cross babysitting course. This course teaches girls and boys ages 11 to 15 years old the skills to confidently care for children. These skills include leadership, age appropriate play, dealing with choking emergencies, rescue breathing, basic first aid, and more.  The fee is $29 for Full YMCA members and $59 for Program Members, and includes the Babysitter’s Training Handbook, DVD and Emergency Reference Guide. Bring a pen, notebook, and a bag lunch.

Lifeguarding Class
(Age 15 and older)


Learn key skills and gain hands-on experience to prepare for a lifeguarding job. This includes:
·     Surveillance skills to help you recognize and prevent injuries
·     Rescue skills in the water and on land
·     First aid training and professional rescuer CPR to help you prepare for any emergency
·     Professional lifeguard responsibilities such as interacting with the public.
 
Prerequisites: Must be age15 or older, be able to swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl and/or breaststroke and dive to a depth of 7-10 feet.

June 9 6:00pm Prerequisite swim test.
June 12 9:00am to 4:00pm
June 15,16,17 6:00pm to 9:00pm
June 19 9:00am to 4:00pm
June 22, 23, 24 6:00pm to 9:00pm
   
Fees: YMCA members $250.00
   Non-members $270.00
  Includes pocket mask, manual, and certification card.
